Role Description

Parallel Systems is an early-stage startup company developing the future of intermodal transportation. Our mission is to decarbonize freight while improving supply chain logistics and safety. We are developing vehicles and software to create new autonomous and electric transportation systems for existing rail infrastructure.

We’re looking for a CAD administrator to maintain our various CAD platforms, provide support to CAD users, and implement CAD data standards throughout the company. The CAD Manager will work with engineers, IT staff, and Production staff to keep all of our design data accessible, consistent, and efficient. This role will help the company expedite the product development process, and lay a strong foundation for future growth. CAD platforms in use include SolidWorks (with PDM) and Altium Designer.

Responsibilities

- Manage licensing, upgrading, installation, and troubleshooting of CAD software on user’s computers. 
- Communicate with CAD vendors to manage payments, billing, and support tickets. 
- Develop internal guidelines for best practices in modeling, drawing setup, and similar to ensure consistency, reliability, and compatibility. 
- Train employees on best practices and software features. 
- Assist employees with troubleshooting of CAD software. 
- Review CAD data to assess compliance with standards. Provide mentorship, training, and clarification as needed. 
- Maintain internal documentation of common troubleshooting steps. 
- Arrange licenses and CAD software setup for new employees. 
- Configure and document workflows, server policy, and other customizable aspects of CAD platforms. 
- Work with IT staff to maintain CAD servers and data backups. 
- Perform routine CAD system maintenance tasks. 
- Support troubleshooting of model performance or reliability problems and communicate with vendor’s technical support as necessary. 
- Maintain budget projections for CAD-Related software expenses. 
- Manage and sanitize CAD libraries of common components or features. 
- Integrate CAD software with ERP software and other databases to synchronize metadata and automate common tasks. 

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in a related role 
- Strong written and verbal communication skills 
- Collaborative attitude for training and policy development 
- Experience with SolidWorks and PDM including change management and revision control features. 
- Experience with networked enterprise applications and server configuration 
- Experience working with business-to-business software vendors. 

Preferred

- 10+ years of experience administering enterprise software 
- Familiarity with SQL, basic scripting, and other server-side solutions. 
- Experience with PLM strategies and standards. 
- Experience using CAD software as an end-user 
- SolidWorks CSWP-API certification
