Position Overview
This position will provide comprehensive quality engineering support to Proterra’s Site Quality Engineers, Supplier Quality Engineering, and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for creating and executing FARO arm programs in PolyWorks, in support of supplied component, production, and finished goods APQP/PPAP and more. This position will report to the Sr. Quality Engineer and collaborate with other cross-functional team members located on-site as well as at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and the manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, CA.
About the Role – You will:
- Set-up and maintain the Greenville Battery Quality Laboratory in alignment with ISO/IEC 17025 and IATF 16949 standards, owning relevant QMS processes as required
- Create and execute FARO arm programs in PolyWorks.
- Compile measurement reports in support of APQP/PPAP requirements.
- Cross-train quality technicians on FARO arm usage as needed.
- Maintain lab equipment in good working order through a combination of standard maintenance activities and coordination with equipment vendors.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Creation and execution of a system for management of site-wide calibration of gages
- Evaluation of further Powered Quality laboratory opportunities with Product and Process Engineering resources to increase overall laboratory analysis capabilities in support of battery and non-battery production.
- Other laboratory related tasks as identified as part of the launch of battery production and the transfer of Powered Non-Battery production in Greenville Battery.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

Your Experience Includes
- Associates degree (technical degree preferred) or related experience.
- Familiarity with ISO based Quality Management System (ISO/IEC 17025 and/or IATF 16949 experience a plus).
- Three-plus years quality laboratory technician experience (automotive or other large-scale manufacturing a plus).
- Demonstrated ability to create and use FARO arm measurement programs for a variety of applications.
- A broad overview of technical mathematics including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, measurement systems, and conversions between various numbering methods.
- The ability to identify, select, and use metrology gauges and instruments.
- Thorough understanding of GD&T.
- Application of inspection processes using GD&T and traceability, as well as implementing testing methods such as destructive/nondestructive, functionality testing, and hardness testing.
- Understand how to optimize quality assurance using basic statistics, statistical process control (SPC), and process capability analysis (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk).
