About the position

The AP Manager is a new position at Bellwether Coffee and presents the opportunity to help a growing company establish a scalable AP system. As our accounts payable manager, you will be responsible for creating and implementing AP policies and procedures, managing day-to-day AP operations, participating in month-end closing tasks, and leading accounts payable system projects. Reporting to the Director of Accounting and working closely with our Procurement team, you will serve as a key business partner to internal partners and vendors and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. You will also assist in other accounting functions such as general ledger entries, government/tax filings, and other tasks assigned by your manager.

Key Responsibilities – What success looks like

  • Manage day-to-day AP operations and meet deadlines while ensuring that payables transactions are coded accurately and processed efficiently for close periods.
  • Implement policies and procedures to build a streamlined and scalable AP system.
  • Document AP-related processes and procedures and maintain training materials.
  • Conduct research and provide resolutions of transactions/accounts to vendors and internal stakeholders that need attention.
  • Work closely with procurement team to ensure all payment requirements are met and resolve PO issues.
  • Oversee expense reporting and serve as primary point of contact to employees about this process and our expense reporting systems.
  • Record monthly accrual journal entries and complete other accounting projects and tasks, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Accounts Payable experience with at least one year managing others.
  • AP experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • Deep knowledge of Procure to Pay procedures and an understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based accounting, specifically Netsuite and Bill.com.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong organizational, research, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • A passion for process.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, with strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a high-growth work environment.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

**Desired Qualifications **

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business.
  • Experience working with employee expense platforms such as Abacus and Teampay.
  • CPG industry experience.
