Role Description

Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) in carbon markets are the collection of processes and tools used for characterizing project performance in terms of societal and environment benefits, such as biodiversity or carbon storage. They form the foundation by which carbon markets operate. Our approach is to use the latest remote sensing technology and machine learning techniques to provide carbon estimates

Our MRV team is looking for an experience engineering leader to guide the growth and development of our MRV products. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of setting and delivering on goals for cutting-edge machine learning and data products.

You will help us with:
- Building trusting relationships with your direct reports to be able to help them grow.
- Nurturing the culture of performance to set the bar for speed and quality.
- Strategic planning for budget and headcount.
- Defining goals and metrics for research areas and run effective operational reviews with leadership.
- Ownership over MRV metrics for communicating progress against goals.
- Keeping the team running by resolving emergent blockers.
- Improving the way the team and organization makes decisions and gets things done.
- Motivating the team to focus on the biggest problems first and communicating why they’re important.
- Recruiting great engineering managers and engineers and ensuring they have a great candidate experience.
- Coaching and develop engineering leaders on the team to help them advance in their careers.
- Establishing the processes by which work gets done on the MRV teams

You should:
- Have experience managing and growing a technical research and development team of at least 15 people.
- Have been at least a senior software engineer on a high-performing team.
- Be able to communicate effectively and give honest feedback with empathy.
- Have worked in a cross-functional organization and able to effectively work with Product, Science, and other organizational leaders.
