Role Description

ZeroAvia is a leader in zero-emission aviation, flying the world’s largest hydrogen-electric aircraft since September 2020. Our focus is the design and commercialization of hydrogen-powered aviation solutions to address a variety of markets, initially targeting short-haul, sub-regional commercial flights up to 500 miles. To date, ZeroAvia has secured the UK CAA and FAA experimental permit to fly for its 6 seat aircraft powered by hydrogen-electric powertrain, passed significant flight tests, and is on track for commercial deliveries by 2024. Its achievements to date were rewarded by the UK prime minister by inviting ZeroAvia as a member to the UK Jet Zero Council.

ZeroAvia’s powertrain development focuses on tightly integrating H2 Fuel Cell power systems and storage, along with electric drivetrain components, to deliver a unified solution that is both environmentally friendly and economically superior to traditional aircraft drivetrain solutions.

Working with the Head of System Design and in conjunction with the Electrical Propulsion and Power Generation teams, the Electrical Low Voltage design and integration engineer will be responsible for:

  • System design of innovative Low Voltage aircraft systems
  • System design of EWIS for Low Voltage Aircraft electrical systems, working with electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical design specialists(AC43-13B)
  • Drafting Electrical System Schematics and Wiring Diagrams 2D drawings and supporting development of EWIS processes and standards.
  • Participating in systems design and integration reviews
  • Support EWIS project management, coordination and reporting within the integration team
  • Contribute to the development of physical harness layouts and installation kits and carry out design for assembly and deterioration assessments.

Experience Required

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of wiring and harness design software tools (e.g. Zuken E3.series etc…)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols like ARINC825, ARINC429, I2C, CANOpen and Serial Bus.
  • Experience of the system design lifecycle within aerospace, automotive or similar systems development environment.
  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3), and DO160.
  • Knowledge of design standards and good practices in EWIS, EMC, bonding, insulation, and related electrotechnical components and materials
