Field Operations Specialist

REMOTE

Role Description

What we’re building

Our vision is to electrify all waterborne vessels, and we're starting with electric watersport boats.

An electric boat is superior to a gas boat in almost every way: not only is it way easier to maintain (the single biggest pain point of owning a gas boat) and a lot cheaper to operate (a day of use costs ~$10 compared to ~$100 for a gas boat), but it’s also quieter, faster, more stable, and cleaner, with no fumes or pollutants.

Battery tech is finally good enough to pull this off, but a truly performant electric boat also requires a strong, lightweight hull to accommodate the large battery. With years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, we believe we can disrupt the gasoline boating industry through first principle engineering, innovative production techniques, and a scrappy start-up approach to problem solving.

What we’re looking for

We are a growing team looking for someone that is excited by our vision, eager for a challenge, and ready to evangelize the benefits of electric boating to a broad new audience. You will be a full-time member of our Product team and will work from our manufacturing facility in Los Angeles. You’ll also be expected to travel regularly around the US and Canada to promote our products and connect with customers and partners.

Given that we’re an early stage company, you will be working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment. That said, there are some responsibilities and qualifications we expect to stay relatively constant for this role.

Core responsibilities

  • Towing Arc boats to locations around the US and Canada and demonstrating their capabilities to a wide variety of audiences
  • Building and maintaining relationships with current and potential customers, media, marina owners, vendors and partners
  • Supporting current customers with issues via phone, chat, in-person visits
  • Representing Arc at public-facing events like boat shows, press events and marina demonstrations
  • Collecting customer feedback and opinions to inform marketing and product strategy

Basic qualifications

  • At least three years of experience selling high-end consumer products
  • A people-centric mindset to aid relationship building
  • A scrappy “get-things-done” approach to help execute on things that the company hasn’t tried before and learn on the fly
  • Ability to operate independently and make data-backed decisions on the go
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bonus qualifications

  • Prior boating experience and industry knowledge is not required, but a major plus for this role.
  • An eye for design or creation of marketing materials
  • Mechanical or technical skills for troubleshooting smaller boat, trailer or truck-related issues

At Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status. You're welcome to reach out even if you feel you don't meet these qualifications. Passion and aptitude make up for a lot.

What we value

We value these three things above all else:

  • Empathy, for colleagues and for customers
  • Pragmatism, for navigating ambiguity quickly and sensibly
  • Diversity, of background, opinion, culture, etc.

Given that we’re a small team working in a sometimes intense or stressful environment, it’s vital that our values align. We’d be happy to elaborate on any or all of these during the interview process.

What you’ll get

  • Smart teammates who will challenge you to be better
  • Access to and input over every aspect of the business
  • A meaningful equity stake
  • An opportunity to launch an industry-defining product in under a year
  • Knowledge that you’re helping save the environment
  • Nearly free health insurance
  • Lots of snacks

How to get the job

  1. Introduce yourself in an email to work@arcboats.com
  2. Do an initial phone screen with a member of the team
  3. Present on how you'd approach an actual scenario at Arc
  4. Meet the team at our warehouse in Los Angeles
  5. Get an offer!

Since we're a small team, we can move at whatever pace you'd like. If you're in a hurry, we can get through those steps in a matter of days. If you want to take your time, we can spread it out over weeks or even months. Either way, we generally respond to all emails within a few hours.

Hope to hear from you soon!
