About the Role

As our first dedicated finance hire, you’ll be tasked with helping to build the foundation for financial planning and analysis and sustainable long term growth at Lightship. The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner to the business with a strong analytical skill set, organized approach and scrappy mindset. We’re a small, low-ego team looking for a highly effective collaborator equally capable of guiding long term business strategy and pitching in to get a very tactical operational task across the finish line.

Responsibilities

- Lead financial planning and reporting of performance against plan
- Own product cost by managing the financial bill of material for the Lightship recreational vehicle; provide analysis and guidance on product cost tradeoffs through a full product lifecycle (engineering, sourcing, launch, manufacturing ramp)
- Oversee external partners that execute on the financial and administrative backbone of our company (accountants, payroll provider, legal and other service providers)
- Organize and support fundraising efforts (primarily venture and growth equity)
- Support board of director meetings and ongoing investor relations initiatives
- Provide exceptional business and analytical support to internal stakeholders to ensure sound decision making on the way to a high-impact, high-growth and highly profitable company

Prior Experience & Professional Qualities

- 4+ years in a finance, business operations, strategy or other business function in a related industry (automotive, climate tech, space launch, consumer hardware) or in investment banking/management consulting
- Experience providing analytical or operational support during a hardware product development process (e.g. managing a financial bill of material) preferred
- Proficiency with financial analysis, financial modeling, basic accounting terminology and business tools like Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to act with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating effectively with a team
- Proactive, comfortable with ambiguity and juggling multiple projects
