By combining advanced energy storage solutions with Athena™, a world-class artificial intelligence (AI)-powered analytics platform, Stem enables customers and partners to optimize energy use by automatically switching between battery power, onsite generation and grid power. Stem’s solutions help enterprise customers benefit from a clean, adaptive energy infrastructure and achieve a wide variety of goals, including expense reduction, resilience, sustainability, environmental and corporate responsibility and innovation. Stem also offers full support for solar partners interested in adding storage to standalone, community or commercial solar projects – both behind and in front of the meter.

Stem’s culture embodies diversity & inclusion beyond the traditional facets of gender, ethnicity, age, disabilities, and sexual orientation to include experience, personality, communication, workstyles, and more. At our core, Stem is at the momentous intersection of clean energy and software technology where diverse ideas, experiences, and professional skills converge to make the inclusive culture we have today. Together, we are turning old school thoughts about software and energy into progressive, collaborative, and innovative solutions. By joining our team, you will be collaborating with data scientists, energy experts, skilled salespeople, thought-leading executives and more from a range of backgrounds. This intersection of ideas, beliefs, and skills is what makes us unique enough to lead the world’s largest network of digitally connected energy storage systems.

What We Are Looking For:

The Strategic Finance team is seeking a self-starter finance professional to help inform strategic decisions for both Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and hardware business models. You will own, drive, and in some cases create new reporting, modeling, and analytical frameworks. This will involve extensive research and hypothesis testing with large datasets driven by insatiable curiosity and ownership, as well as rigorous quantitative modeling that clarifies ambiguity, drives actionable business recommendations, and challenges the status quo.

Exceptional performers will develop exposure across departments and with our executive leadership, as well as find opportunities for subsequent rotations across Stem’s finance organization and opportunities for career advancement.

Experience in a SaaS-based business model is highly desired. Experience in the renewable energy industry is desirable but not required. This role is leveled for a Senior Finance Analyst but we are open to considering a uniquely exceptional candidate at the Finance Manager level.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a high impact member of the finance team, known for timeliness, accuracy, and analytical rigor

  • Partner with Accounting to perform close activities and help drive process improvements and efficiencies
  • Other ad hoc areas including but not limited to: Treasury, Investor Relations, Corporate Development, and Corporate Strategy

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of directly applicable experience in FP&A, business finance, investment banking, management consulting, or related fields
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency with financial reporting fundamentals (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement, monthly key metric reporting) and basic understanding of US GAAP accounting principles
