Role Description

SilverLining seeks a talented, experienced, and efficient Operations Manager to join a remarkable team driving research and policy to ensure a safe climate.

SilverLining is a non‐profit organization founded in 2018 that (1) works with policymakers in the US and internationally on equitable, effective, science-based decision-making on near-term climate risk and possible approaches to reduce warming rapidly (climate intervention); (2) supports physical sciences research and technology innovation in accelerating the understanding of near-term climate risks and interventions through its Safe Climate Research Initiative; (3) spearheads initiatives to promote diverse and equitable participation in science and decision-making through its Global Youth Initiative and Global South programs; and (4) provides a platform for communication and dialogue on near-term climate risk and climate intervention.

SilverLining seeks an effective manager to ensure the smooth operational functioning of a multifaceted nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will be flexible, well-organized, and enthusiastic about building and maintaining financial and administrative systems and supporting talented people.
The Operations Manager will initially report to the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

**Specifically, the Operations Manager will: **

  • Oversee compliance for organization- Work with Executive Director, external contractors and external counsel to ensure that legal filings, business licenses, tax filings, and other requirements of non-profit organization are fully complied with
  • Oversee overall project and process management - Plan, organize, and direct activities as required to implement defined project goals and objectives in support of SilverLining’s initiatives in the climate change and awareness domain.
  • Identify, commission, contract for, and manage key SilverLining productivity systems: Configure and manage existing portfolio of project management software systems and processes
  • Manage Human Resources to include overseeing recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance evaluation, training and people development, payroll and benefits, compliance, and culture maintenance (values, events, etc.).
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and generating financial reports  Working with our accounting team and Executive Director to build, maintain and fulfill accounting procedures
  • Assist with in-house technology and security management and act as the point person for virtual office and physical workspace(s)
  • Assist with logistics and processes for events, travel, and procurement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Bachelors or Graduate degree with 5+ years of work experience
  • 5-years + professional experience in business administration, with non-profit and/or early-stage experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and GSuite
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks and nonprofit financial accounting practices
  • Project management experience
  • Successful track record in supporting dynamic teams and growing operations capabilities
  • An outgoing self‐starter who can adapt to a changing environment, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills and attention to detail

Location: The Operations Manager position is a remote position with an option for working from SilverLining’s office in Washington DC or collaborative workspaces.

Compensation: Salary range $125,000-$150,000.
