Continental Shift Schedule:

The Operations Supervisor position will work:

  • 12.5 hours continental shifts
  • Schedule rotates after every two (2) weeks (week 1 @ 2 days & week 2 @ 5 days)
  • Overtime pay, night and weekend premiums

As an Operations Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include:

Production

  • Review production reporting & identify improvement opportunities
  • Actively monitor production KPI’s and suggest continuous improvement opportunities in our key areas of focus (cycle time, uptime, yields, batch size)
  • Manage the daily KPI reporting and trend charting systems
  • Must be certified as Production Operator III (PO III) and run all lines as per PO III key job tasks
  • Ensure timely maintenance work order creation for your shift to ensure maximum uptime of equipment
  • Ensure that the flow of resources like raw materials is maintained and that production items are delivered as needed and used properly and efficiently
  • Identify and resolve process upset conditions in a timely manner
  • Actively participate in PHAs and PSSRs
  • Create and revise reaction plans for accuracy and review with your team
  • Coordinate completion of daily maintenance tasks with Maintenance Supervisor
  • Work with the crew side by side on the lines/control room

Health & Safety

  • Understand and enforce the organizations Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure that workplace inspections are performed apart from those conducted by the JHSC
  • Ensure that employees wear the appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Advise each worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health and safety of the worker, of which the supervisor is aware
  • Investigate and determine the causes of all incidents/accidents and recommend corrective action, as assigned
  • Ensure workers receive proper instruction and training, through training programs and/or safety meetings prior to the commencement of work
  • Identify and inform the employer of occupational health and safety concerns
  • Correct substandard acts or conditions
  • Commend good health and safety performance and perform employee health and safety observations
  • Performing regular work site inspections
  • Set a good example by always wearing the appropriate PPE when required
  • Report H&S hazards, work refusals and accidents/incidents to the EHS Department and/or Operations Manager
  • Hold workers accountable to all occupational health and safety policies, procedures and SOPS

Leadership of People

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation and leadership of the team
  • Lead the operators to ensure team performance meets or exceeds commitment and expectations of productivity, quality and safety
  • Lead and ensure implementation of actions plans to drive continuous improvement as related to operational and safety issues, as required
  • Plan, manage, and adjust the daily workload and resourcing to meet key performance metrics
  • Foster a safe work environment of empowerment, accountability, respect, consideration, open honest interaction
  • Lead the team in developing a continuous improvement mindset and process, while recognizing opportunities for change and implementing successfully
  • Support the Operations Manager in making key operational and technical decisions affecting the plant

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of one (1) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge and certification of all Production Operator levels (I, II, & III)
  • Ability to work all lines and machines on the production floor
  • Operations Supervisors must be PO III certified for a minimum of 3 months
  • Post-secondary education is an asset
  • Able to motivate and achieve results through others
  • Experience in a high volume, fast paced operations
  • Technical / mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand tools is required
  • Working knowledge of production equipment and understanding of manufacturing processes as it relates to plastic processing would be an asset
  • A positive attitude, along with ambition, organization, and service spirit.
  • Highly motivated, conscientious, self-managed team player, with experience working in a production team environment
  • Safety conscience and professional
