Parallel Systems is an early-stage startup company developing the future of intermodal transportation. Our mission is to decarbonize freight while improving supply chain logistics and safety. We are developing vehicles and software to create new autonomous and electric transportation systems for existing rail infrastructure.

We're looking for a Production Manager to help us grow our production and test capabilities. In this role, you'll work with engineers, technicians, and vendors to supervise the building and integration of complex structural and electromechanical assemblies. As the company grows, you'll be able to develop standards and systems that streamline production. Ideal candidates would be building on a strong history of managing complicated builds on aggressive schedules.

Responsibilities

- Support the build, test, and integration of fabricated structures, electronic components, wire harnesses, and mechanical assemblies by:
- Understanding engineering documentation of custom designs
- Managing vendors to build custom components
- Procuring off-the-shelf components and maintaining an appropriate inventory
- Maintaining organized task lists and work schedules
- Work with contract vendors by:
- Preparing Request for Quotation packages
- Obtaining quotes and bids
- Negotiating terms of sale
- Tracking all required engineering approvals (shop drawings, change requests, rework procedures)
- Monitoring vendor performance on quality and schedule
- Review and advise on vendor’s requests for payment
- Project production timelines and demand for materials. Coordinate on-time procurement.
- Maintain inventory of critical materials for future builds and arrange consignment to vendors when necessary.
- Build and maintain bills of materials and other production records to keep production consistent and timely
- Assist in cost tracking of direct expenses related to production builds
- Participate in the hiring and supervision of production and fleet maintenance staff as the company grows

Requirements

- Ability to read & understand mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics
- Familiarity with fabrication and assembly techniques and tooling
- Experience working with vendors providing made-to-order electrical and structural components
- Experience negotiating and administering supplier-vendor agreements
- Experience with integrated electromechanical systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel

Preferred

- 3+ years experience as a project engineer, production supervisor, or project manager; preferably in process equipment, custom equipment, heavy machinery, or related industries
- Experience in production planning, project management, or supply chain management
- Experience supervising small teams
