Position Overview
This position will provide comprehensive Production Supervisory support to Proterra’s Production Manager and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for providing a full range of Production Supervisory solutions to client groups at the site and be in an environment where you can have a greater impact.
About the Role – You will:
- Determine production requirements (i.e., output quality and quantity, cost, time, labor requirements) by analyzing charts, work orders, production schedules; determine schedules, sequences and assignments for assembly line activities and confer with other Team Leaders to coordinate operations and activities within or between stations.
- Gives clear, concise instructions to associates regarding work specifications and equipment operation as well as oversees quality and quantity of production; monitors associate’s performance by monitoring gauges, dials and other indicators.
- Responsible for all production matrixes in their core assigned areas; monitor and control materials, products or equipment to detect defects or faults, oversee quality and quantity of production, and evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Maintain associate labor tracking (i.e., payroll, time approval, tracking); initiates and administers 1st level of associate basis disciplinary / corrective action.
- Recommend and implement initiatives (i.e., new techniques/products, purchase of new machinery, changes in staff levels); conducts or arranges training in job-related skills for associates.
- Coordinate with upper management on work issues and enforce safety and housekeeping (5S) regulations.
- Responsible for the training of all employees in your area of responsibility
- Other duties as assigned by management.

- This position will be part of the Production team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
- You will report to the Production Manager and collaborate with other Production team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, CA and Greenville, SC.

Your Experience Includes:
- Associates’ degree in a Technical or Business-related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience (able to develop others through goals, planning and coaching), preferably in automotive.
- 3 years’ proven experience in the ability to multi-task and manage non-routine situations.
- Knowledge in various manufacturing processes (mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, automation and support functions).
- Knowledge of work processes (lean six sigma mythologies), team development and training methodologies.
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Physical Demands:
- May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
- Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
- Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
- Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
- Environmental Demands:
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
- Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
- Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
You might also have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or Technical.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- 3+ years of project management or team leadership.
