Role Description

Sentient Energy is recruiting for a full-time Systems Administrator in our Customer Operations organization. The Customer Operations organization is responsible for designing and implementing solutions for deploying, commissioning, and operating Sentient Energy’s unique line of hardware and software products into utility distribution networks and operations.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with emerging technologies in the rapidly developing and highly visibility Digital Grid space within the utility and industrial energy sector. What You Will Do In Your Role

  • The Commercial IT Systems Administrator is responsible for multi-level support that includes diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving Server and Network issues in a fast paced-dynamic environment.
  • The Commercial IT Systems Administrator answers incoming support requests, inquiries, and emails to determine if problems are user, software or hardware related; analyzes problems/issues/inquiries; addresses issues personally when possible; assigns severity levels to the appropriate technician and follows through to resolution
  • This position will work from the ITSM queue to manage alerts and incidents created by our monitoring tools.
  • Preform patch management and provide proactive maintenance on as required
  • Meets or exceeds SLA’s and escalates critical issues to appropriate parties within SLA timeframes.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues assigned by Manager of Commercial IT Operations including hardware, software, and network communication issues.
  • Responsible for answering phones, email, and tickets for incoming support requests
  • Performs various administrative tasks across various OS and cloud platforms.
  • Escalates issues quickly and efficiently in accordance with documented Service Level Objectives
  • Available for occasional late shift work and for scheduled on-call support
  • Maintains strong customer service skills when dealing with clients, vendors, and Sentient-Energy personnel
  • Advises Sentient-Energy management of client support or reoccurring technical issues

  • Strong Server OS Knowledge, Linux, Unix, Windows
  • Effective analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, to handle pressure and multiple projects simultaneously and to manage work under tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with working in cloud environments
  • Must be flexible, able to multi-task and enjoy working in a diverse, results-oriented workplace where a premium is placed on teamwork

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience working within a Cloud, NOC, Server Support or Network Administration position
  • Hands on experience with Linux?
  • Ability to provide occasional late shift and scheduled on-call work
