Purpose Driven Position

CarbonCure is on a mission to revolutionize the concrete industry. We are seeking a Technical Team Lead to assist with the overall execution of our digital strategy to maximize usage of our full suite of CO2 utilization solutions. Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, the Technical Team Lead will be involved in the management of our development teams, enabling the success of every department. You’ll be responsible for mentoring individual team leads and developers, participating in sprint planning, providing technical and architectural leadership, monitoring processes in and between teams and facilitating check-ins and technical performance reviews with each team member. Maximizing the synergies and usage of our internal tools is critical to the success of achieving our mission of 500MT CO2 reduction annually. The CarbonCure team is small, tight-knit and supportive, with emphasis on trust and independence.

Role Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a high performing team of employees by focusing on alignment of recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention initiatives to enhance our culture and expertise
  • Coaching and leading development staff towards delivery on software key project deliverables
  • Assist with technical decision making which includes technology stacks, architecture, and cloud infrastructure for the digital team
  • Foster a collaborative environment of shared resources, best practices with our growing development teams
  • Engage with leadership with clear communication, appropriate levels of context and explanation, using visual and data representation when needed, to effect direction of strategy and bridge the gap between business and new product development
  • Perform regular check ins with developers and conduct technical performance reviews
  • Develop processes for monitoring development team velocity and code quality
  • Develop digital team metrics of success and report progress to leadership team
  • Assist with application and architectural planning including documentation and diagrams
  • Assist with roadmap planning and ensuring our team has the resources and infrastructure to scale appropriately

What You Need to Succeed

  • A passion for sustainability and addressing climate change
  • Attentiveness and empathy to the needs of a development team
  • Proven examples of establishing and iterating on development and team processes
  • Minimum two (2) years working in a leadership or management position
  • Minimum five (5) years of directly related experience in software development
  • Proven track record of mentoring development teams to improve output and code quality
  • Proficient in C# or Java
  • Experience with ASP.NET
  • Capable in Javascript, Typescript, Python, and SQL
  • Knowledge of deployment on cloud platforms, AWS experience as an asset
  • Passionate about teamwork, through good commit messages, well-explained documentation, and clean, commented code

Work Environment

  • Full-time position will be remote (main office located in Dartmouth, NS)
  • Work with a high-functioning team dedicated to our customers and producing high quality output
  • Hours are flexible, but a minimum of eight (8) hours per day Monday to Friday is required
  • Fail fast mentality typical with start-up companies
  • Participate in on-going discussions and contribute ideas that speak to project objectives like design, user experience, development, testing solutions, and tools
