Position Overview
Proterra is seeking a Business Development Manager on its Proterra Powered team to help commercialize and deploy the company’s core energy storage and other technologies for applications outside of Proterra’s electric buses. The Business Development Manager will help drive new growth areas for the Proterra Powered team, including new geographies and vehicle categories. You will also manage relationships and commercial negotiations with new and existing commercial vehicle OEM partners.
About the Role – You will:
- Develop and negotiate partnerships to meet sales targets
- Define and iterate on Proterra Powered’s market entry strategy. Become an expert on commercial vehicle electrification. Prioritize markets to enter and identify key target partners
- Manage a set of partners through program development, from introductory conversations to technical fit evaluation and pricing proposal development
- Develop a deep understanding of Proterra technology and how it can be integrated into other vehicle platforms
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact at Proterra for a set of partners by cultivating, developing, and maintaining direct relationships
- Work cross-functionally with key internal stakeholders in engineering, legal, customer success, and finance

- This position will be part of the California based Business team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations in Burlingame, CA.
- You will report to the Sr. Strategic Business Developer and collaborate with other Business Development team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and other manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, CA and Greenville, SC.

Your Experience Includes:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in technical or quantitative field
- 3+ years’ experience in business development, technical sales, program management, or product management
- Willingness to travel (15-25% travel)
- Capable of driving partner relationships autonomously with customer-focused attitude
- Experience in automotive, energy, or technology space preferred
- Comfortable managing cross-functional projects with excellent organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly with internal and external senior business leaders
