ROLE PROFILE
Source Global is looking for a Design Engineer with expertise in Plastic Injection Molding to join our Engineering Team. This role is based in Tempe, AZ and will report to the Design Engineering Project Lead. At a glance, this role will be a member of the Design Team in the Product Development branch of Engineering and they will design mechanical components and subsystems ensuring that product requirements are met._ 3D mechanical design/documentation, a wide variety of manufacturing techniques, specifically plastic injection molding, and working principles of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics are must haves for this role._
In this role, you will:
- Conceptualize and develop new products, parts, mechanisms, and assemblies possessing a high level of sophistication, complexity, and practicality
- Utilize engineering tools effectively to produce a range of meaningful deliverables, including 3D mechanical design, manufacturing tolerance analyses, risk analyses, and 2D production-level documentation of components and assemblies.
- Design new and modify existing (PIM) Plastic Injection Molded parts
- Collaborate with tooling partners to ensure on time delivery of quality parts
- Generate ECRs and ECNs Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Notifications corresponding to the initial release products
- Advise sustaining engineering department efforts
- Lead and participate in design reviews

- Possess design engineering experience in technology and/or consumer products, demonstrating technical, manufacturable, and commercialized solutions, 8+ years.
- Hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or other mechanical-centric Engineering discipline.
- Have working knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes, especially injection molding, rapid prototyping, sheet metal fabrication, casting, and machining.
- Can generate robust, mechanical drawings, prototypes, and written reports. **3D CAD experience a must **(SolidWorks proficiency strongly preferred).
- Exhibit practical knowledge of statics, dynamics, strength of materials, thermal and fluid design, and the ability to effectively apply such knowledge in a fast-paced environment.
- Have excellent capacity for both logical reasoning and creative thinking as evidenced by the ability to invent, conceptualize, and abstract.
- Have a high level of personal commitment to quality, with demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail in all phases of a project.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, highlighted by a flexible and collaborative working style.

- Experience in the design of injection molded plastics and managing foreign toolers
- Familiarity with a broad range of plastic materials and press tonnage ranging from 250-2500 tons
- Both hard and soft tooling
- CFD or FEA experience
- PDM management
- Experience with selection of DC motors, fans and pumps
