Role Description

Overview

Lightship is the first American all-electric recreational vehicle manufacturer currently developing an aerodynamic, battery-powered trailer for the electric age. As the macro transition to an all-electric transportation ecosystem accelerates, Lightship is bringing the increased convenience and superior performance that electrification offers to a pastime enjoyed by over 11 million American families.

Honoring Diverse Perspectives

Lightship is committed to hiring and developing top talent from diverse backgrounds. We believe representing and supporting diverse groups is key to the success of our team members, customers, shareholders and the achievement of our mission and vision. - Lead suspension, wheel/tire and braking system, hitching system, bumper and crash structures design from architecture- and requirements-setting to detailed mechanical design and validation
- Collaborate with Power Systems Engineering on a wheel hub design that accommodates a novel electric drive system
- Develop and execute upper and lower body mechanical design from conception through production, selecting manufacturing technologies well matched to program volumes and vehicle performance targets
- Define and devise solutions to meet vehicle chassis overall structural requirements
- Select suppliers and manage our companies’ relationships and deliverables
- Engage with, and contribute information to guide, vehicle BOM cost targets
- Recruit, manage, mentor, and lead a team of exceptional design engineers to develop high quality Lightship vehicle components and subsystems

- Prior experience developing body structures (including unibody and body-on-frame designs and working with cutting-edge materials and construction methods)
- Prior experience in chassis design and exposure to vehicle dynamics problems
- Experience with sustainable design and engineering practices preferred
- You are curious, fundamentals-oriented, and you question founding assumptions
- Collaborative mindset, dedication to excellence and completeness, clear communication style
- 8+ years of relevant experience

Employee Benefits

Lightship offers all of its employees and their dependents full benefits including health, dental and vision insurance and covers 100% of the insurance premium.
