Climate Robotics is a venture-backed startup based in Houston, TX. We are building the next generation of agricultural machinery to produce biochar, a powerful soil amendment that improves soil health and sequesters atmospheric carbon.
The Electronics Technician will be responsible for assembling, installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems, apparatus, and electrical/electronic and mechanical components for our agricultural machinery. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and assemblers.
This position is based on-site in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities
- Work from layout drawings, point-to-point wire lists, and wiring schematics
- Assemble control panels
- Install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using hand tools
- Efficient troubleshooting and programming knowledge using PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control systems, instrumentation, and electronic circuits (motor controls, relay logic, AC/DC drives, and low voltage switchgear)
- Ensure the use of correct wire size and color are used based on the supplied wiring diagram
- Perform a point-to-point loop check after wiring completion to insure correct wiring placement
- Inspects completed work for conformance to drawings, specifications, and safety
- Requisitions tools, parts, and equipment as directed
- Perform all crimping, ferruling, and lugging activities and demonstrate best practices in wiring
- Use label printing software to install required heat shrink or self-adhesive labels on all wiring installed
- Create records of materials used
- Provide support for special projects including, but not limited to, component selection, controls recommendations, vendor recommendations, panel layout, and installation
Requirements
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- Ability to study and understand all electronic schematics and mechanical blueprints in order to learn the configuration and methods of assembling new products and maintaining the existing fleet of equipment and machinery
- Ability to identify wires accurately
- Ability to perform electrical tests, read results and diagnose and repair electrical problems
- Good eye-hand coordination to construct small parts and pieces into a final product
- The ability to use various hand tools to produce a final product.
- Ability to follow instructions and diagrams as delivered for each product
- Training generally applicable to Electronics Technology or Industrial Electronics; working knowledge of AC and DC drives, control PLC Logic; computer skills including Windows 10
- Ability to handle a physical workload, e.g. lift at least 50 pounds, work from standing for extended durations, and work from height
- Authorized to work in the United States
