Job Description:

Lilac is seeking an Engineering Manager to manage the research and design of Lilac’s membrane treatment equipment used for lithium extraction and processing at projects across the US and South America. This person will be a key member of Lilac’s design and manufacturing teams to assure operability and quality control. This Engineering Manager will be headquartered in Oakland, CA, and will travel across the US, Europe, and South America. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for membrane equipment that enables next generation filtration, separation & purification
• Lead membrane system design for pilot and commercial scale systems
• Manage technical troubleshooting and make modifications in consultation with design and engineering teams
• Transition system through startup to operations teams
• Ensure timelines are met for all design build projects
• Provide feedback on product design to engineering and manufacturing teams

Candidate Requirements:

• B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in water and/or wastewater process engineering
• 5+ years of experience in membrane treatment systems (such as reverse osmosis)
• Effective people and project management skills
• Experience with project execution, installation, and commissioning of plants in mining, metals, chemicals, and/or water treatment
• Effective people and project management skills
• Builds culture through leadership and mentorship
• Highly organized with sharp attention to detail
• Excited to work on an ambitious fast-moving startup team
• US work permit
