Purpose Driven Position

CarbonCure is looking for an Engineering Technician to support implementation and optimization of CarbonCure’s Reclaimed Water technology. Reporting to the Engineering Manager this job involves a combination of hands-on work (wiring, cutting, drilling, welding and assembling of hydraulic fittings, as well as installing systems in the field) with project management and design development. CarbonCure is growing and evolving quickly as a company, so the selected technician will also aid in improving efficiencies of existing processes.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Civil), or a Diploma in mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical technology
  • 3-5 years of experience in an industrial setting
  • Entry level understanding of PLC programming, business intelligence (BI) platforms and basic programming (e.g. Python)
  • Ability to travel to the USA without a visa, and able to travel internationally to Europe and Australia
  • Strong communication skills; ability to take direction and translate to other team members
  • Ability to think methodically, to design, plan, modify if required, and manage projects.
  • Ability to develop and interpret documents such as safety rules, assembly, operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to produce quality work within tight deadlines, and comfortable working in a highly variable environment typical with start-up companies
  • Proactive and detail oriented with a passion for getting the job done
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload to achieve pre-determined goals.
  • Knowledge of concrete testing, cement, admixtures and CO2 would be an asset.
  • Comfortable working with a small team and helping it grow

What you'll be doing

  • Perform field installation & commissioning activities
  • Wire electrical components for a PLC and HMI following wiring diagrams
  • Programming and troubleshooting PLC software
  • Develop visualization dashboards of system performance, for both internal and external use
  • Assemble steel structures and hydraulic piping systems with fittings, valves, and sensors based on standard operating procedures
  • Optimize the design & maintenance plan based on operating learnings
  • Create electrical & mechanical schematics and diagrams
  • Coordinate with clients (concrete producers) on installation and commissioning activities.
  • Perform periodic maintenance activities

Work Environment

  • Full time position based out of the Dartmouth office
  • High functioning team dedicated to our customers and producing high quality output
  • Hours are flexible, but a minimum of eight (8) hours Monday to Friday is required, with the possibility of additional time based on projects and customer demand
  • Extensive travel will be required, both domestic and international (up to 80%)
