Ark is seeking a Head of Engineering and Design with experience in equipment design, equipment production and facility buildout in a biotech, pharma, fermentation, or food context. This leader will play a critical role in establishing Ark as the cutting-edge manufacturer of industrial bioreactors.
You will bring engineering and operations leadership and know-how to Ark’s multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists, helping us to establish a robust production and quality process. The Head of Engineering and Design will be a focused, adaptable, creative problem-solver, responsible for executing the planning and processes necessary to support our pilot- and industrial-scale launches (i.e., development, fabrication, deployment).

- Work closely with OEMs, integrators, fabricators, and other key stakeholders
- Oversee supply chain, fabrication, and delivery of Ark's bioreactor products and facilities
- Build, scale, and lead a Engineering and Design team, capable of overseeing mechanics, instrumentation, automation, and integration
- Adhere to the safety and quality standards through product life cycles
- 10+ years of facilities, engineering, and operations experience in a biotech, pharma, fermentation, or food context
- 3+ years of experience in biotech / pharma contexts preferred, and 3+ years of experience managing production processes and teams
- Experience managing engineering projects and teams either on the supply / OEM side or on the client side
- Experience working with OEMs and fabricators
- Ability to originate, build, scale, and lead a biotech facilities organization
- Willingness and excitement to help Ark scale from test / pilot production to a commercial-grade facility, with the ability to build out the necessary infrastructure along the way
- Knowledge of equipment qualification processes, and various regulations / guidelines and compliance protocols
- Strong business acumen and executive-level planning skills
- Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity
