Position Overview
This Co-Op position will be over the course of back to back semesters (Full-time Summer ’22, Part-time Fall ’22, Part-time Spring ’23) to provide support to Proterra’s LA Battery Manufacturing Engineering team members. You will learn and gain practical experience in a hands-on environment while providing support to client groups at the site and will be in an environment where you can have a greater impact and earn a competitive salary during the program.
About the Role – You will:
- Work with state-of-the-art equipment and gain practical experience in a hands-on environment.
- Work on projects and programs currently in progress at Proterra, which allows interns to apply knowledge that contributes to the overall business.
- Assist with various projects across key areas of production operations support, lean & continuous improvement/design for manufacturability, data collection on standard time, test and equipment development and provide production support & troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with internal and external customers in areas of assigned responsibility.
- Have opportunities to propose new ideas or improvement concepts.
- Participate in data analysis and root cause analysis.
- Identify and work on improvements in the battery manufacturing process
- Work with a mentor that will support and be a resource for you during your internship assignment.

- This position will be part of the Proterra team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing Engineering operations in City of Industry, California or Greenville, South Carolina
- You will report to the **Battery Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead **at your location and may collaborate with other team members located across our global operations.

Your Experience Includes: - Enrollment in a Bachelors program for the Spring 2022 semester in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Electrical Engineering
- Must have completed your sophomore year or later in your current program.
- Apply the theory from college/university course work to real world scenarios / situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications.
You might also have:
- Automotive EV or manufacturing engineering focus is preferred
- Club or project team experience is a plus.
- Understanding of problem-solving steps and processes to apply in a real-world situation.
