Role Description

Kevala is looking for a Load & DER Manager to join our growing product team. This individual will lead a team of engineers and analysts to support product development as the in-house energy data and Load & DER subject matter expert that can coach the team to grow their methods and modeling approaches. Additionally, this individual will collaborate across the company to build a generalized, intuitive product for interfacing with all aspects of the electric grid: solar power, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, demand-side management, batteries, wholesale markets, and more.

What you will be doing

- Building innovative products: Lead the activities of the Load and DER team, with guidance from the Senior Manager of Grid Innovation, towards execution on products that support our goals of solving the problems facing the decarbonization of Global electric grids.
- Providing mentorship: Empower and unblock the team to deliver impact by establishing efficient execution and operational processes and holding the team accountable while cultivating a healthy team environment
- Talent Development: Foster career growth of the team by seeking challenging, impactful work for all members of the team based on their skills and interests while maintaining a culture of inclusion as we recruit and retain a diverse team
- Collaborating cross-functionally: Proactively share information so the right people are informed and aligned. Work primarily with the direct team and cross-functional partners in design, product, data science, infrastructure, and data engineering teams to create a user-first product experience
- Innovation: Pursue ideas that challenge conventional approaches and encourage the team to experiment with new approaches and help them learn from failures

What you need to succeed

- 10+ years of related experience that includes familiarity with distribution planning, operations, and/or interconnection of BTM DER mitigation approaches
- Bachelor Degree or higher in an engineering or economics field or related
- Knowledgeable about energy resources including how to model and integrate varying types of: Generation including solar and battery inverters and traditional generators; Load that includes base customer demand, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, building electrification, and motors; Distribution grid equipment that includes voltage regulators, capacitor banks, circuit breakers, switches and load tap changers
- Advanced level knowledge of best practices for defining product use cases and requirements 
- Demonstrable track record of managing product communication plans with stakeholders.
- A track record of empathetic and growth-oriented leadership

What will make you stand out

- Experience working in a small-to-midsize, fast-growing organization while developing strong relationships and partnerships
- Knowledgeable about AMI and SCADA and common information models to represent this data

Location
We are headquartered in San Francisco, but we embrace the virtual office and are continuing to grow our team across the United States.

Salary Range
$135,000-$180,000 (depending on location and experience)
