Position Overview
This position will provide comprehensive support to Proterra’s Powered & Energy department. The Sr. Manager, Product Regulatory Compliance will be responsible for communication, implementation and organizing regulatory compliances. This position will collaborate with other regulatory team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, CA and Greenville, SC.
About the Role – You Will:
- Communicate with regulatory agencies and manages trade associations on product related regulatory compliance and certification matters.
- Prepare technical documentation for submissions and manage global regulatory submission process.
- Author and publish electronic submissions.
- Coordinate design reviews and witness testing with regulatory agencies and/or external labs.
- Develop and communicate regulatory strategy for new products; coordinates regulatory strategy closely with legal and government affairs teams.
- Provide regulatory direction to development project teams as a core team member.
- Conduct reviews of proposed product changes for impact on regulatory status compliance.
- Interpret and apply regulations to business practices consistent with the Company’s policies
- Provide regulatory input, advice, and guidance to the organization.
- Establish business policy and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Keep all areas of business informed of regulatory requirements and emerging issues which may affect the registration, certification or approval of products for sale.
- Support, supervise, and participate (as necessary) in the development of promotion and advertising material for compliance with applicable regulations.
- Support the Company’s Safety Committee and support safety defect investigations and recall campaigns as needed.
- Be responsible for oversight and prioritization of departmental tasks and projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify, develop and implement continuous improvements related to Proterra’s strategic initiatives and related tools, in partnership with business units and enterprise stakeholders.
- Business Performance: Facilitate and communicate objective and ongoing analysis project activity through the utilization of program/project management and analytical tools (e.g. dashboard) and evaluation frameworks.
- Coordination: Facilitate collaboration across teams and enable consistent delivery paths for all program/project deliverables.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

- Strong organizational skills and development project experience qualify the occupant to lead teams and handle increasing levels of responsibilities.
Your Experience Includes
- 7+ years of experience in the commercial vehicle regulatory environment in the United States and Canada; international experience a plus.
- 10+ years experience in a relevant position, preferably within the EV industry.
- A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or business field is preferred
- 10+ years of related experience.
- MS degree or higher, preferred but not required.
