Climate Robotics is a venture-backed startup based in Houston, TX. We are building the next generation of agricultural machinery to produce biochar, a powerful soil amendment that improves soil health and sequesters atmospheric carbon. We have several openings available for mechanical assemblers. Preference is for candidates who have experience with heavy or agricultural equipment. This position is based on-site in Houston, TX, and is temp to perm.

The Mechanical Assembler will be responsible for assembling our agricultural machinery. You will ensure all parts fit correctly and are suitable for the final product. You will use hand tools, power tools, and machines, and will have a good understanding of the right tools for the task. You must have good technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and great manual dexterity. The ability to read instructions represented in manuals, drawings, schematics, etc., and follow them with precision is extremely important. Experience installing and repairing hydraulics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and comprehend instructions (verbal or written) and follow established procedures
• Collect all materials and equipment needed to begin the process
• Take precision measurements to ensure the perfect fit of components
• Select or modify components according to measurements and specifications
• Work collaboratively with team members
• Meet production deadlines
• Check output to ensure the highest quality
• Report on issues, malfunction, or defective parts
• Assist with receiving and shipping, including boxing, unboxing, loading and unloading
• Keep inventory system updated by checking parts in and out
• Maintain shop equipment in good condition
• Maintain a clean working environment
• Operate safely at all times and in compliance with the safety program

Additional info:

• Working schedule is Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm with OT as needed
• Temp to perm position
• Starting rate of $18 an hour (DOE)

Requirements

• Prior experience as a mechanical assembler
• Can work with minimal to no supervision
• Technical knowledge and ability to read blueprints, drawings, etc.
• Proficient in using power tools and hand tools and can choose the right tool for the task
• Forklift and overhead crane experience
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition
• Ability to handle a physical workload, e.g. lift at least 50 pounds, work from standing for extended durations, and work from height
• High school diploma; Higher degree from a technical school will be appreciated
• Authorized to work in the United States
