Job Description

Lilac is seeking a principal mechanical engineer to lead mechanical equipment design on ion exchange systems and other water & lithium processing technologies for lithium production at pilot and commercial scales. This person will work with other process engineers to design and optimize process equipment, including reactors. This person may travel to commission plants in Western US and South America. This is a full-time position

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design efforts on custom chemical processing equipment, including reactors and reactor internals
• Define purchase specifications for engineered mechanical equipment
• Produce detailed designs and component drawings, including all information required for complete fabrication of the equipment
• Enforce company safety protocols, and ensure design complies with relevant safety standards
• Supervise mechanical equipment commissioning and startup

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience
• Experience with custom chemical equipment design, equipment commissioning and plant integration
• Experience with designing equipment with corrosive fluids preferred
• Proficient with AutoCAD or other 2D/3D modeling software
• Excited to work on a small fast-paced startup team
• Strong desire to learn, innovate, and implement creative solutions
• Well organized, with the ability to multi-task
• Able to lead equipment design process and be a part of multi-disciplinary teams
