Job Description:

Lilac is seeking a mechanical engineer to lead mechanical design of custom chemical process equipment for Lilac's bead manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities will include working with process and materials engineers to determine specifications of equipment, conceptual and detailed design, procurement and fabrication, installation, commissioning, and operations for process equipment and systems at pilot and commercial scale. This is a full-time position.

Candidate Requirements:

• Degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience in chemical or materials manufacturing
• Experience with custom chemical equipment design, piping design and sizing, equipment commissioning and plant integration.
• Advanced knowledge with Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D CAD systems and in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Passion for rapid prototyping and innovation
• Highly organized with sharp attention to numerical detail
• Excited to work on a small fast-paced startup team with a drive to succeed and grow with the company

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a periodic basis
• Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
• Move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts
• Move long distances (across large warehouse floor)
• Can travel to sites across the Western US up to 50% of the time
