Role Description

Position Overview

This position will provide comprehensive engineering support to Proterra’s Configuration Engineering Manager and other site leadership team members. This position will have the opportunity to demonstrate strong engineering rigor while providing immediate value add for customer projects. This position will report to the Configuration Engineering Manager and collaborate with other Engineering team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, CA and Greenville, SC.

About the Role – You will:

  • Design portions of engineering solutions for mechanical and electrical systems based on customer requirements, established engineering & quality principles and in accordance with developmental technology practices and guidelines.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external cross-functional teams on engineering design and development.
  • Collaborate and communicate with management, other internal groups, customers and vendors regarding design status, project progress, requirement clarification and issue resolution.
  • Assist manufacturing and quality in root cause analysis and issue resolution.
  • Use Mentor Graphics software to create schematics, harnesses and drawings.
  • Develop validation plans for new and existing designs.
  • Support design, sourcing, prototype, texting and manufacturing activities.
  • Create and release ECO’s according to established project milestones and targets.
  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of a variety of factors; Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and builds productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Your Experience Includes

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years' of Engineering experience or related field
  • Internship experience in Electrical Engineering field is preferred.
  • Experience with schematic software, Mentor Graphics Vesys is preferred.
  • Ability to provide analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
