**Role & Responsibilities: **
- Heat treating metal parts and components
- Light fabrication of test apparatus
- Light fabrication of electrical harnesses
- Mechanical fabrication
- Set up hand and machine tools, welding equipment, and computerized machines
- Operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment, and computerized machines
- Assemble parts and structures by lining up and joining them by welding, bolting, or riveting
- Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing, or bathing them in acid solutions
- Ensure every aircraft or aircraft section is built and completed on time, on budget, and defect free
- Ensure material requirements are identified and communicated in a timely fashion to the sourcing department
- Maintain fabricating equipment
- Operate sanders, grinders, saws and drill presses to create aircraft parts
- Adapt machines to craft new parts
- Identify tools and methods needed to construct and assemble components
- Evaluate equipment performance and implement necessary modifications
- Maintain aircraft, work area, and hangar cleanliness
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or a GED equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in fabrication
- Ability to follow detailed drawings and other specification papers to determine the job, material, and equipment requirements
- Ability to follow detailed drawings and other specification papers to determine the amount of cutting, rolling and shaping. heating and hammering of metal products that will be needed to fabricate parts or sub-assemblies
- Ability to comprehend blueprints and work specifications
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Skilled at welding diverse metals
Desired Qualifications:
- Aircraft fabrication
- Electrical fabrication (i.e., wire harnesses, cable & electromechanical assemblies)
- A&P Certification
Travel: Up to 10% travel to Camarillo Airport located in Camarillo, CA.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and move around the shop environment for extended periods of time
- Ability to walk; reach with hands and arms; kneel, crouch or crawl
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds,_ _frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance

- Active engineering shop environment inside an aircraft hangar. Regular tool and equipment use, i.e., drilling, hammering, soldering
- Office building located on Hawthorne Municipal Airport. Regular aircraft departures and arrivals near the worksite
- Indoor/outdoor work environment, variable temperatures related to weather conditions
