Parallel Systems is an early-stage startup company developing the future of intermodal transportation. Our mission is to decarbonize freight while improving supply chain logistics and safety. We are developing vehicles and software to create new autonomous and electric transportation systems for existing rail infrastructure.

We're looking for a technician to test and refine rail vehicle hardware. In this role you'll work with our manufacturing partners, engineers, and operators to support production vehicles, as well as building and operating lab equipment. Ideal candidates will have experience working with a broad range of electromechanical systems and a strong ability to organize their tasks, tools, and materials. This role will involve working at various locations where Parallel's rail vehicles are deployed and tested, including our test location in the Los Angeles area.
- Work with engineering staff to build electromechanical systems for lab tests to characterize and simulate production components.
- Perform tests and gather data using lab equipment and fielded rail vehicles.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems with vehicles in the field.
- Perform retrofits and repairs on vehicles in the field.
- Participate in production of new vehicles by visiting vendors, inspecting work product, answering technical questions, and performing critical steps.
- Participate in deployment of new vehicles in the field including rigging, final assembly, and field check-outs.
- Order and maintain tools and supplies at assigned work locations.
- Work with engineering team to review work instructions for practicality, accuracy, and efficiency.

- Ability to use electrical and metalworking tools.
- Ability to read drawings and work instructions.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical problems.
- Experience working safely with heavy machinery.
- Willingness to travel.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
