WhereIsMyTransport is an industry-leading technology company and central source of mobility and location data for emerging markets.
We have newly created the Junior People Business Partner role, to join our People and Talent team of six who support our 130 people globally. We are a growing, global, remote-first business. At the moment, we have team members spread across 17 countries. Our biggest team member population is in South Africa, which is why our preference is for this role to be based in South Africa.
In this role, you will partner with a cohort of line managers and their teams. The managers you’ll work with will have differing levels of managerial experience and you’ll work with them to ensure that our team members have an outstanding experience while also ensuring that we’re keeping compliant. You’ll help identify and work on key projects which will have the most impact when it comes to creating a working environment where our global team can thrive and do their best work.
Six month goals for this new role
- You have built strong, trust-based working relationships with your line manager partner cohort - you have established yourself as their go-to person for any team member matters.
- You have rolled out our global team member handbook.
- You have planned and rolled out a programme around Psychological Safety at work - making sure everyone in the team understands what it is, why it’s important and how they can foster it in their day to day activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and support on team member relations matters to line managers within your cohort, on how to handle team member matters.
- Work closely with line managers and team members to continuously keep your finger on the pulse and maintain and further strengthen positive relationships and morale.
- Deliver company-wide initiatives within your partnering group, such as performance reviews, compensation conversations, individual development plans as part of our talent management framework.
- Own and further drive team cohesion - plan events and other opportunities for building connection within our teams, and work with our People & Operations Specialist on execution.
- Own and further drive team wellbeing - we offer everyone full access to Spill, as well as tailored localised support where needed and have recently introduced Desana to help those of us who want to, get out of the house.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labour legislation across locations, you’ll be supported by our existing team, our Employer of Record partners and specialised legal advisors who you can draw on for guidance when needed.
- Collaborate with the Head of People on leadership development, through training delivery, 1-1 coaching and the creation of self-service guidance for managers.
- Collaborate with the Head of People on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives, listening to our team and developing solutions (currently we’re looking at how we can make remote working more accessible to those who don’t have access to a strong internet connection in their home).
- Collaborate with the Head of People on policy and process work, such as putting together our global team member handbook.
- We’re a small People & Talent Team, and we help each other out. We have some scheduled absences during the time you’ll likely join us, so this will mean that we’ll need you to work on some generalist People Operations and Talent topics too.

- Previous exposure to building out people policies for distributed, remote-first teams.
- Previous exposure to and keen interest in driving Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives.
