This highly impactful and highly visible Quality Engineer role will be focused on executing quality assurance and continuous improvement activities across all manufacturing sites. She/He will work closely with other cross-functional teams to analyze and solve complex quality problems. The candidate must be a strong problem solver with good interpersonal and communication skills, possess a strong sense of urgency, be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish criteria for part inspection standards based on the specifications and critical requirements.
  • Establish and maintain control plans to assure critical features are controlled and monitored through the assembly/production processes. Support the development, verification and manufacturing of products using Advanced Production Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Lead and maintain PFMEA to determine potential risks in manufacturing and drive resolution of high-risk issues into process controls.
  • Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) process. Ensure that non-conforming materials are contained, dispositioned and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) is reduced.
  • Support various quality activities including calibration management, change management, NPI and training.
  • Perform and lead problem solving activities for quality issues through root cause investigation and corrective/preventive actions. Methodologies such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, design of experiments, and/or statistical process controls must be utilized.
  • Develop and manage quality metrics using data visualization tools to report and provide information with recommendations for improvements and reduction of cost of poor quality.
  • Track quality improvement metrics, prioritize issues and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform design review activities including inspectability, consistency, adequacy, accuracy, and conformance to requirements
  • Assist in the development and improvement of the Quality Management System by performing internal audits to ensure compliance with the drawings, processes, work instructions, ISO 9001/AS9100 and other regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in the Engineering field (Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical or Mechanical related field preferred) or greater.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Quality Engineer.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen Methodologies and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management Processes (PLM).
  • EV product and process control preferred – planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling and measurement systems.
  • A fundamental understanding of quality methodologies (corrective action, root cause analysis), GD&T, customer satisfaction and professional work ethics.
  • Understanding of controls and requirements necessary to ensure measurement quality and provide measurement assurance (metrology). Experience with a broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings of complex nature to develop in-process and receiving inspection plans.
  • Demonstrates understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.

Bonus Points:

  • Certified Quality Engineer Certificate preferred.
  • Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing and Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Experience with the requirements for Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process.
