Sentient Energy is hiring for a Supplier Quality Engineer in Milpitas, CA. This role will develop, establish, implement and manage Sentient Energy, Inc.’s supplier quality system requirements. The individual will be working under the quality department and closely with Sentient’s engineering and operations departments in the selection, evaluation, qualification and quality performance monitoring of Sentient’s contract manufacturers and suppliers of materials, components and commodities as well as driving continuous improvement actions.
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Development, establishment, documentation, implementation and management of Sentient’s supplier quality system requirements
- Evaluation, assessment, auditing and qualification of Sentient suppliers according to company requirements and standards
- Quality performance monitoring and periodic auditing of Sentient suppliers
- Ensuring suppliers deliver products and services and performs in accordance with Sentient supplier quality requirements
- Driving continuous improvement actions
- Define and document of supplier quality system requirements
- Establish supplier evaluation, assessment, qualification, performance monitoring and continuous improvement procedures and processes
- Evaluate, assess and qualify suppliers and contract manufacturers according to company standards to ensure capability in delivering quality products and services
- Continuous quality performance monitoring and rating of suppliers. Reporting on supplier performance and making recommendations for further actions
- Analyze parts, inspection and test results, lead problem solving and drive necessary actions for continuous product and process improvement
- Interface with customers in resolving quality related issues. Ensure that suppliers consistently deliver materials, products and services that meets or exceeds company requirements
- Drive investigation of nonconformities and failures to root cause(s) and the determination and effective implementation of appropriate corrective and preventive actions at suppliers and at Sentient
- Develop, establish, document and implement QA/QC procedures, First Article and Standard Inspection Instructions and techniques
- Perform First Article Inspections and Evaluations to verify if products and processes meet or exceeds quality requirements
- Periodic and regular overview and reporting of quality related activities in production and new product introduction activities
- Travel as needed
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer defining supplier quality system requirements, evaluating, assessing and auditing supplier quality systems in the electronics, electrical and mechanical industries
- Experience in supplier assessment, qualification, management, auditing, rating and continuous quality improvement
- Product and manufacturing process knowledge of electronic contract manufacturing assembly, PCBAs, electrical components, mechanical components such as machined parts and plastic and rubber injection molding
- Working knowledge of inspection methods
- Experience in data analysis using Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Problem Solving Tools
What Will Put You Ahead
- BSME, BSEE or equivalent
- Professional certifications such as CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt, ISO Auditor
- Excellent knowledge of QMS and quality workmanship standards such as IPC-610
- Leadership experience
- Strong computer skills including MS Office suite
- Thorough knowledge of the ISO 9000 Standard
