The Role
Terabase offers SCADA and Controls Solutions that enables accurate data acquisition and effective management of utility scale solar power plants. We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer – Operational Technology (SQE-OT) to join our team and serve as the point of contact for our strategic customers.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is proactive, organized, and reliable at all levels, always delivering on their promises and meeting deadlines being a part of their DNA. This role requires an individual with the ability to build trust, strong planning skills, sound technical orientation, and strategic execution ability.
This position is nominally based in Berkeley, California but the right candidate may be able to work remotely from other locations. The SQE-OT reports directly to the OT Proposal and Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- You will be actively engaged in helping to achieve competitiveness, successful project execution, productive internal/external interfaces, supplier quality and proposal/project cost management.
- You will be collaborating with technical SCADA engineer to generate engineering BOM per RFP requirements and assessed detailed cost estimates that encompass both internal and external supplies and services.
- You will be an active partner with the internal Global Purchasing and Supply Chain team in cost negotiations with suppliers to obtain highest possible discounts and fair payment terms.
- You will be working directly with suppliers in meeting customers requirements per drawings and specifications, obtaining latest quotes, addressing supply related risks/issues, performing audits and reviewing processes when allowable.
- You will interact on a daily basis with the Project Team members (e.g. Project Manager, Technical Lead, SCADA Engineers, Buyer, Accounting) and other units, providing an effective project cost control and fully reliable forecast of total project costs as well as manage the project budget and prepare regular reports with key financial metrics.
- You will be working with Proposal Manager in generating proposals and compiling required tender documentation.
- You will be responsible in managing the project specific BOM and keep it updated with latest cost information, qty, model, leadtime, etc. and in working closely with purchasing team to monitor the delivery schedule of critical components.
- You are expected to provide leadership in identifying, articulating and resolving problems related to RMAs, supplier FATs issues, supply delivery issues and supplier warranty issues.
- You will own and maintain the SCADA and Controls component data base with relative component information (i.e. PN, Manufacturer, Supplier, Alternate sources, Data Sheets, Manuals, etc.) keeping all the records updated and organized.
- You will provide overall governance for supplier quality management systems, policies and procedures, linking the design engineering, supply chain and suppliers together and providing the backbone for continual improvement.
- You will monitor supplier performance and drive both necessary improvements and supply cost reductions.
- This role involves a high level of independent judgment, initiative, creativity, and the management of multiple estimates that focus specifically on identifying accurate cost estimates, quality management as well as proposed cost reductions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline
- 3+ years in relevant role
- Solar project engineering, procurement, supplier quality or management experience
- Comfortable providing technical presentations to peers, customers, and leadership regarding the details of technical issues
- Demonstrated effectiveness working with remote teams and clients
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Experience managing complex projects delivering against deadlines
- Willingness to travel to project sites for customer meetings (when travel is possible and safe)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Experience working with of SCADA systems, grid controllers, and weather measurement stations
- Familiar with of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
