ZeroAvia is a leader in zero-emission aviation, flying the world's largest hydrogen-electric aircraft since September 2020. Its focus is the design and commercialization of hydrogen-powered aviation solutions to address a variety of markets, initially targeting short-haul, sub-regional commercial flights up to 500 miles. To date, ZeroAvia has secured the UK CAA and FAA experimental permit to fly for its 6 seat aircraft powered by hydrogen-electric powertrain, passed significant flight tests and is on track for commercial deliveries by 2023. Its achievements to date were rewarded by the UK prime minister by inviting ZeroAvia as a member of the UK Jet Zero Council.

ZeroAvia’s powertrain development focuses on integrating hydrogen storage tanks, fuel cell systems, and electric motors, delivering a solution that will be not only without carbon emissions but also cheaper to operate. Commercializing the solution requires the establishment of a new clean aviation ecosystem, encompassing hydrogen production from renewable energy sources and tackling public perception of safety.

Role:

As a Zeroavia Test pilot, you will support the Chief Test Pilot (CTP) in the application of their duties and be responsible for planning, execution, and reporting of US test and demonstration flights of Hydrogen-powered fixed wing aircraft. Working closely with the design office, Maintenance team, and Flight Test Engineers you will be expected to support the test and evaluation of flying laws in the Company’s Flight Test Operations Manual.

You will be expected to be current on at least one of the aircraft types and conduct flying in direct support of current projects.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure regulatory compliance and foster open and trusted relationships with key staff at the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and on occasion the UK Civil Aviation Authority and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
• Provide training and direct supervision of all US-based flight operations staff involved with flight test business.
• Ensure flight test activity meets or exceeds regulatory requirements.
• On occasion support UK flight test activity
• Maintain a close relationship with the Design Office (DO) and ensure close co-operation with key staff. Participating in design reviews and technical safety reviews
• Be responsible for maintaining the highest professional standards during the conduct of experimental, development and demonstration flight test activity.
• Supporting ground tests as test conductor, participating in simulator evaluations.
• Planning and flying test flights as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC). Develop test strategies, test plans and procedures.
• Drafting flight manual and operational guidance and manuals and documenting test results

Educational/Vocational Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• Hold a valid US Professional Pilot’s license
• Graduate of recognized Test Pilot program (A fixed Wing pilot graduate of a full-length course of instruction from a recognized test pilot school (e.g. ETPS, USNTPS, USAFTPS, EPNER etc.)
• Minimum 2000 hours required 1000 hours PIC
• Ability to obtain US Visa

**Desirable **

• Hold a valid UK or EASA flight test rating
• At least 5 years of experience as an experimental/developmental test pilot
• Hold valid FAA CFI rating

Knowledge

• Flight Operations management system practices and principles
• Strong domain knowledge of customer operational requirements and customer platform capabilities
