The **Vice President of Quality & Compliance will be based in **Newark, CA and will report to the Chief Operating Officer. In this position, you will be responsible for leading all quality, reliability, and certification/compliance requirements such as UL, CE, and UKCA.

The VP of Quality and Compliance is responsible for leading and establishing the strategic and tactical objectives to drive Freewire to world class field reliability as well as the primary customer interface to assure the highest level of customer quality assurance. This leader will also be responsible for establishing and assuring all Product Lifecycle (PLC) requirements are met for new products, establishing and meeting the appropriate warranty reserves with the Financial Team, reducing the cost of non-quality to the business plan target. This is in addition to creating plans and actions for all compliance requirements across all products both in production and in development. Lastly the VP of Quality and Compliance will control and manage the PLM system and document control.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the primary “voice of the customer” to assure all products, systems, communications, and requirements for the customer are understood throughout the company and that the appropriate corporate functions are aligned to provide the required outcomes for all customers. This will also include interfacing with customers on technical, quality, and improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and assess all supplier quality requirements and grading systems as well as assure root cause resolution for all supplier component failures. You will also establish regular supplier audits focusing including the overall assessment for all worldwide suppliers that include financial, QMS, procedures, and ability to meet Freewire corporate quality requirements.
  • Responsible for assuring all outgoing product quality requirements are being met including AFR/ARR, production quality, and product uptime.
  • Establish and execute the quality objectives for the company in the annual operating plan as well as the long term (strategic) objectives.
  • Assess, develop, and implement all QMS systems and requirements to assure world class quality
  • Lead the compliance team for all worldwide product certification requirements and work closely with NRTLs to assure current products maintain their certification requirements, and assure new products meet all compliance requirements in all targeted market geographies.
  • Assess, change, establish, and assure the company executes the requirements in the Product Lifecycle (PLC).
  • Provide the analysis for assessing and reducing the warranty reserves in consultation with the Finance team.
  • Set the corporate culture for quality throughout the company from the CEO down to the individual contributor
  • Site contact for all regulatory audits
  • Perform internal audits to verify compliance and conformance to all regulatory and quality systems requirements, including any customer requirements
  • Engage in external audit processes (Customers', Regulatory, Government Agencies, etc.)
  • Responsible for managing customer audits and regulatory/compliance agency audits
  • Assess, change/impact, and implement the quality and reliability terms and conditions for all customer and supplier contracts
  • Establish regular quality meetings across the company including the C Suite so as to assure all company personnel understand the status of quality and that appropriate plans/actions are in place to meet the corporate quality objectives
  • Primary control of the corporate PLM and documentation systems

Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • Broad product, mass production, and supply chain experience that shows a proven track record of leading and managing quality/reliability requirements
  • Strong customer communication and management skills
  • Proven ability to communicate to the C Suite in regards to all quality, reliability, and compliance issues
  • Experience communicating and analyzing warranty calculations and reserves in consultation with the Finance team
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in performing internal and external audits.
  • Site liaison, coordinator, lead for all current and future regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in planning, coordinating, leading QMS management reviews.
  • Root cause / corrective action expertise
  • 15 years’ experience outgoing quality, reliability, supplier quality, QMS, FMEA
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience, required
